Lychen’s Drawing Pin Walk
Town Hall
The market square and town hall were located right in the heart of the medieval town. When Lychen was founded in 1248, the founders lived in an “Amtsburg” (“administrative castle”), likely right here on this spot, where the forecourt was for centuries bustling with jugglers and traders.
The old town hall burned down in 1732 and was rebuilt shortly afterwards in Baroque style with a mansard roof and tower. The building burned down once again in the final days of the war in 1945. In 1957, the people of Lychen rebuilt their town hall, but for cost reasons without tower and clock.
