Lychen’s Drawing Pin Walk
Drawing pin
The drawing pin („Pinne“) is small, useful, indispensable in households and offices… and it was invented in Lychen!
It is said that clockmaker Johann Kirsten sold his invention to a manufacturer out of desperation, who then became rich from it. Whether this Johann Kirsten really existed and whether he lived in this house is now disputed.
What is certain is that the Lychener Otto Lindstedt had the drawing pin patented in 1904. The factory he set up continued to manufacture the pins here in Lychen until 1966 and exported them all across Europe.
