Lychen’s Drawing Pin Walk
Painter's corner
The dreamy old town setting here at the millrace and lake owes the name Painter’s Corner (Malerwinkel) to the countless artists who have depicted the ensemble of houses on paper or canvas.
In the dyer’s house (with overhang) there were once large copper kettles in which colours were mixed according to a secret recipe. These were used to print linen fabrics which were hung up to dry in the attic of the neighbouring house.
The dye works was known far beyond the town’s borders. In 1909, the business could no longer keep up with industrial production and gave up its craft.
