Lychen’s Drawing Pin Walk
Old Cinema
This is where the Lycheners dance, sing, celebrate and laugh: The town‘s cultural heart has been beating in the „Altes Kino“ (Old Cinema) for more than 100 years!
Originally built as a hotel ballroom, the building was converted into the „Neues Lichtspieltheater“ with heavy velvet curtains in 1927. Having screened silent films for five years, the cinema was equipped with sound technology in 1932. In GDR times, the Berlin cabaret „Die Distel“ performed here several times.
After extensive renovations, the „Altes Kino“ was reopened as a multicultural center in 2010.
